Charlestown, RI Charlestown, RI Full-time Full-time $15 - $18 an hour $15 - $18 an hour 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago PRC Office Support Assistant The Narragansett Indian Health Center (NIHC) has an immediate opening for a competent PRC Office Support Assistant onsite to assist other PRC staff with processing patient referrals and medical bills and to help the PRC staff with the organization and running of the daily PRC administrative activities.
The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of office support tasks and work diligently under pressure.
This person will be comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion as well as incorporating new and effective ways to achieve better results.
The successful candidate will perform a full range of office support activities for the PRC office.
These functions include application of computer skills; MS Office applications, and internet, data entry, typing, patient accounts payable, maintaining office supply inventory, answering phones, scheduling, filing & record keeping, typing, collecting and delivering mail, assist NIHC Administration Office Support staff with oversight of maintenance and supplies for PRC office equipment, daily general office routines.
This is a diverse position that requires well established office skills.
Must be conscientious, prompt, timely, and responsible.
Candidate should possess a positive attitude as required in this fast paced, detail-oriented environment with many deliverables and deadlines.
Must be a team player and work well with others as this is a support position with constant interaction with fellow workers and patients.
Successful candidate will assist patients with scheduling visits with outside health care providers, may explain the PRC eligibility requirements to patients and staff after training.
Must have knowledge of and comply with Protected Health Information (PHI) and HIPAA requirements; knowledge of IDC codes; and understanding of health insurance billing.
Responsibilities Organize office and assist associates in ways that optimize procedures Sort and distribute communications in a timely manner Create and update records ensuring accuracy and validity of information Schedule and plan meetings and appointments Monitor level of supplies and handle shortages (Maintain supply inventory).
Resolve office-related malfunctions and respond to requests or issues Coordinate with others to ensure compliance with established policies Maintain trusting relationships with patients and colleagues Perform receptionist duties when needed Handle incoming calls and other communications.
Manage filing system.
Provide information as needed.
Greet clients and visitors as needed.
Update paperwork, maintaining documents, and word processing.
Help organize and maintain office common areas.
Perform general office clerk duties and errands.
Coordinate with NIHC Administration office staff to maintain office equipment as needed.
Aid with patient reception as needed.
Perform other general office clerk duties and errands Create, maintain, and enter information into databases.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Proven experience as a back-office assistant, office assistant, or in another relevant administrative role Working knowledge of office equipment Thorough understanding of office management procedures Excellent organizational and time management skills Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving Warm personality with strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in MS Office Education and other Requirements High school diploma/ GED 3
years office experience Valid driver's license COVID-19 vaccination The NIHC is a tribal FQHC, owned and operated by a federally recognized Indian Tribe.
